SPRING MINI-REUNION/MEMORIAL DAY PARADE SCHEDULE

On May 3 Sampson Air Force Base Vets will be gathering for two days of events. Please join us as we once again participate in Waterloo, NY's annual Memorial Day event.

Our activities will start with a 12:00 Luncheon at our host hotel "The Waterloo Holiday Inn".

For those arriving early, Waterloo has a full day of events with details available at the Memorial Day Museum on East Main Street, near the square.

Our Mini-Reunion and Parade activities schedule is as follows:

Friday May 30
th
1200 hrs: Luncheon at the Holiday Inn ... Cost $10.00
1500 hrs: Parade March rehearsal outside the Holiday Inn
1700 hrs: Gather and form at Parade Staging area. You will be informed of the location at Rehearsal.
1800 hrs: Parade through Main Street of Waterloo. I've marched in Memorial Day Parades at home in PA for 32 years, but I have never felt as welcome as we were applauded last year in Waterloo. The crowd and the experience will long be remembered.
1900 hrs: Following the Parade, marchers will be invited to the Waterloo VFW, who is hosting the parade, for refreshments.

Saturday May 31st

1200 hrs:
Assembly and Luncheon at Sampson Air Force Base Museum. Visit with your friends, see what's new in the Museum and have a good time. Bring a covered dish or dessert; we'll bring the rest. We will need some help and volunteers are appreciated. Donations will be accepted to help defray the cost.

1600 hrs:
Cruise on the Lake and in the Canal. Join us at Stiners Seneca Marina for a cruise on Seneca Lake and through the Canal that joins Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. The two hour cruise will take us on a beautiful sightseeing trip through the canal as far as the Waterloo Lock and back The boat carries 49 passengers, so it is important to get your reservations in early. Cost of the cruise is $23.00 per person. There will be a cash bar on board and snacks will be available. Our host for the cruise is Captain Bob Stiners. The marina in located at the Northeast comer of Seneca Lake at Geneva. Watch for signs. This will be the final activity for the Mini-Reunion.

Blocks of rooms are being held until April 29th at
the Waterloo Holiday Inn and the Microtel. Make sure you tell them that you are with Sampson Veterans Association.

Our Color Guard will be under the Command of Phil Godwin. Tom Kirk will Command those marching in the flight. Those unable to march will be seated on the restored Sampson flatbed trailer and truck. Wives and Friends of Sampson are encouraged to travel with us!

Suggested Uniform for those who cannot wear their Air Force Uniform - Sampson Association Blue Hat, Navy Blue trousers, White Association golf shirts with Sampson Association Logo, black shoes are desirable but not mandatory (be comfortable). There will be caps and shirts available at rehearsal at reduced prices.


We met our goal last year of 50 participants. Let's aim for 75 participants this year!

Deadline for reservations is on Monday May 19th for the Luncheon on Friday May 30th and the Boat Cruise on Saturday May 31st.
