i remember the base i was stationed in 1952 (sewart afb in tenn) had an unattended parking lot across the highway from the main gate . guys with cars and w/o insurance had to park the car there...it was not allowed onthe base. thieves were always breaking into the cars.

In yesterday's mail, I got 3 offers for car insurance: it got me thinking about how hard it was 50+ years ago to get car insurance for youngsters (WE WERE!!!!} that were in the military. Aging has few advantages, but I guess car insurance at a reasonable rate is one of them: heck, maybe the only one.
