Western New York

Western New York Luncheon/Cruise held on Saturday July 18, 2009

On July 18th, twenty two people gathered at the Buffalo waterfront for a two hour narrated tour on the Miss Buffalo II cruise ship. Prior to the boat tour, all enjoyed a cheese and fruit platter luncheon. We also had time to view the beautiful flowerbeds and several large wood carvings along the waterfront park. These carvings are making use of the large trees destroyed during one of Buffalo's snow storms that downed several of them in the Buffalo area.

Sights seen by all on the cruise were the China man's Light, Buffalo Naval Park ships, and the newly re-opened section of the Erie Canal. We also traveled along the Historic Black Rock Canal going under the Peace Bridge which connects the USA and Canada. We were unable to go out into the lake to the Canadian shoreline as previously planned due to high winds and choppy waters. The weather was chilly and windy but dry and I think a good time was had by all.

Many Thanks to Ronalda Dray for making this a successful event.
